대영제국은 해군·식민지 유지비 증가하다가 전쟁 비용에 스스로 후퇴했다.
로마제국도 확장된 영토의 군대 유지비를 세금으로 메꾸려 했지만 반란이 생겼다.
몽골제국은 넓은 영토의 행정·통제가 불가능하여 분열로 해체되었다.
소련도 비슷하다. 군사·위성국 유지비가 많이 들어서 총 한 방 없이 붕괴되었다.
중국은 어떨까? 땅은 넓은데 유지비는 줄지 않는다.
거기에 일대일로와 대만땅따먹기 준비에 탕진해서 오늘 내일 이러고 있다.

우리는 유교와 도덕을 믿는다.
그래서인지 위기 때 전 세계가 달러강세.
원화는 상대적 약세.

지금 한국에서 무인 단속 카메라가 급증하고 있어. 대당 설치비가 4200만 원 정도 된다고 해. 심지어 일부 카메라는 실적이 거의 없는데도 유지비만 해마다 수억 원이 들어가고 있지.
이제 곧 자율주행 시대가 오잖아? 차가 스스로 속도 조절하고 신호를 지키는 세상이 되면, 지금 수천억 들여 깔아놓은 저 카메라들은 쓸모없는 고철이 될 거야.
당장 과태료 수입에 눈이 멀어 미래를 안 보는 행정 때문에, 나중에 철거할 때 또 우리 돈이 들어갈 텐데 이건 진짜 세금 낭비의 끝판왕 아니야?
